From Lyra Prime to your living room. Why every civilisation that respected cats thrived, and every one that persecuted them collapsed. Seriously. Don't f**k with the cats.
In the paleo-contact literature (Lyssa Royal, the starseed material, the Feline-Carian framework), the Lyra constellation is identified as the origin point of one of the two original seeder races in this universe. The Felines and the Avians (Carians). Felines came first. Not cats exactly โ humanoid beings with feline characteristics: pronounced eyes, slight points to the ears, agile build, a protective peach-fuzz layer over the skin from UV exposure on their origin planet. Any primitive interaction with these entities on your world may report that they are cat people โ they are not. They are humanoid.
The domestic cats on Earth, in this framework, are their genetic creation. Seeded here during the early rounds of planetary life-engineering. Cats are not pets who happened to wander into Egyptian grain stores. They are remnants of the original seeder species' biology, placed here the way you'd leave monitoring equipment at a field site.
If the Nommo came from Sirius and the Feline Lyrans preceded them, then the cat is the oldest ambassador species on Earth. Not a symbol. A literal remnant.

Tiamat is the primordial salt-sea goddess in the Babylonian Enuma Elish. She and Apsu (fresh water) mingled their waters and created the first gods. Later Babylonian depictions gave her the head of a lion, a serpent's tongue, eagle's legs, wings, and scales. She was the cosmic creatrix โ the MOTHER of all the gods.
Marduk killed her. Split her body in half. Made the heavens from one half, the earth from the other. Rivers from her tears. Clouds from her saliva. Her blood became the sea.
Robert Graves read this as the mythological record of the actual overthrow of matriarchal/matristic societies by patriarchal ones. Tiamat was not a monster โ she was a mother goddess rewritten as a monster by the men who killed her religion. The lion-headed creatrix became the dragon you had to slay to prove you were king.
Beat One of the cosmic pattern: the feline-coded mother is killed, and from her destroyed body the patriarchal world is literally constructed. This is not metaphor. This is the foundational myth of Mesopotamian civilisation: we built the world on her corpse.
c. 3000 BC โ 30 BC
Where Babylon killed the lion-mother, Egypt protected her. The feline-headed deities in Egypt span the entire dynastic period: Mafdet (First Dynasty, earliest known โ protector against snakes and scorpions), Bastet (initially a lioness, later a domestic cat โ fertility, domesticity, women, music, pleasure), Sekhmet (lioness, war and healing simultaneously), Mut (sometimes depicted as a cat), and the Great Cat Mau, who in the Book of the Dead IS Ra himself โ slaying the serpent Apep.
The Egyptians called domestic cats "Mau" โ which is also onomatopoeia, the sound a cat makes. And: killing a cat, even accidentally, carried the death penalty. A Roman visitor accidentally killed a cat around 60 BC and was lynched by a mob โ the pharaoh himself could not save him, and even the political threat of Rome could not stop the crowd. Exporting cats was illegal. The Egyptian army conducted military operations to recover smuggled cats from foreign countries. At the Battle of Pelusium in 525 BC, the Persians released live cats onto the battlefield and painted Bastet on their shields. Egypt surrendered rather than risk harming the cats.
When a household cat died, the family shaved their eyebrows in mourning. The cat was mummified in the finest materials. Over 300,000 cat mummies were found at a single site at Bubastis. Herodotus described the annual festival of Bastet at Bubastis as the largest in the country, attended by several hundred thousand pilgrims.
This was not superstition. This was a civilisation that lasted three thousand years โ the longest-running continuous civilisation in recorded history โ and at its core was: protect the cats. Value them more than human comfort, more than military advantage, more than diplomatic relations with Rome. They knew something.
Old Kingdom โ Late Period
Sekhmet is the code-breaker in the feline pantheon. Lion-headed. Daughter of Ra. Goddess of war AND healing simultaneously. Her name means "The Powerful One." Her priests were the most skilled doctors in Egypt. She could send plagues โ and cure them. She was called both "Lady of Terror" and "Mistress of Life." She protected Ma'at โ cosmic balance, justice, order.
The myth: Ra sent her to punish humanity. She went into a blood frenzy and would not stop. To prevent her from destroying everything, Ra poured seven thousand jugs of beer dyed red with pomegranate juice across the land. Sekhmet gorged on what she thought was blood, passed out drunk for three days, and when she woke, her rage was sated. Humanity survived.
Sekhmet and Bastet were considered twin aspects โ or two faces of the same goddess. Sekhmet = Upper Egypt, dressed in red, facing west. Bastet = Lower Egypt, dressed in green, facing east. Destruction and nurture. War and fertility. The same force, expressed through different need. Amenhotep III built over seven hundred statues of Sekhmet โ one for every day of the year โ with daily offerings to each.
Sekhmet IS the Goodness Codex teaching about the body: the same force that destroys also heals. It is not good or evil. It is POWER, and what matters is how it is directed. The seven thousand jugs of beer is the oldest intoxication-as-mercy story in the world โ and it is about pacifying feline energy, not destroying it. Even Ra could not kill Sekhmet. He could only redirect her.
Pre-Christian Scandinavia
Freyja โ Norse goddess of love, fertility, war, seidr magic, sex, and death (she received HALF the battle-slain to her hall Folkvangr; Odin got the other half to Valhalla). Her chariot was pulled by two great cats, Bygul and Trjegul, gifted to her by Thor. Their names mean "Bee-Gold" (honey) and "Tree-Gold" (amber) โ fertility and wealth.
In Viking culture, giving a kitten to a newly-wed couple was a blessing of Freyja upon the marriage. Cats were associated with female power, foresight, magic, independence, and prosperity. Scholars have noted the direct line from Cybele (Phrygian goddess whose chariot was drawn by lions) through to Freyja (whose chariot was drawn by cats) โ the same feline-coded feminine power, travelling north from Anatolia into Scandinavia.
Same pattern. Powerful feminine deity. Associated with both love AND war. Cats are her vehicle. Fertility, magic, death, sovereignty โ all unified in one figure. The Rebel Goddess rides cats. This is not coincidence across unconnected cultures. This is the same teaching.
1233 AD โ c. 1700 AD
Pope Gregory IX issued the papal bull Vox in Rama in 1233, which described alleged satanic rituals involving a black cat that came to life, and heretics kissing its anus. This was aimed at the Cathars and other heretical groups โ and note the word: Cathar. Medieval churchmen claimed the name "Cathar" came from cats. Whether or not this etymology is real, the accusation was real: these heretics worship cats.
From the 13th century onward, cats were systematically demonised across Christian Europe. Black cats especially became agents of Satan. The Templars were accused of allowing cats into their services and praying to them. In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII declared the cat "the devil's favourite animal and idol of all witches." Any woman who owned a cat could be accused of witchcraft. Cats were burned alive in cages at public festivals. In France, cat-burning was a municipal entertainment. In Belgium, cats were thrown from church belfries and set on fire. In Denmark, black cats were beaten to death at the start of Lent.
And the women who loved them burned alongside them. Roughly 80% of those convicted in the witch trials were women. Many were simply "eccentric old women who lived alone and whose only companions were their cats." The cat and the woman were prosecuted as a single unit of heresy.
Egypt: kill a cat, receive the death penalty. Medieval Europe: own a cat, receive the death penalty. Exact same law. Exact opposite direction. Every element of the teaching was reversed โ the feline, the feminine, the healer, the independent, the magical โ all recategorised as satanic.
1347 โ 1353
The Black Death killed between 75 and 200 million people in Eurasia. One third to one half of Europe's population. The primary vector: fleas on rats. The primary natural predator of rats: cats.
The causal chain is debated among historians (and some debunk the direct connection), but the poetic truth is undeniable: Europe spent a century persecuting cats in the name of God, and then the rats that cats would have controlled carried a plague that nearly ended European civilisation. Whether the cat-killing directly enabled the plague or not, the symbolic pattern is exact: attack the guardian, the thing it guards against gets in.
This is what happens when you invert the teaching. The cat was the protector. Egypt knew this. The Church decided the protector was the enemy. The plague was not divine punishment โ it was the natural consequence of removing the guardian and calling it righteousness.
The word "catholic" comes from the Greek katholikos โ meaning "universal, whole, complete" โ from kata (according to) + holos (whole). It has no etymological connection to cats. None whatsoever.
And yet.
The institution that named itself "universal" is the same institution that persecuted cats, burned women who kept cats, demonised everything the cat represented in every prior civilisation (feminine power, independence, magic, healing, the ability to see in the dark), and replaced Bastet with the Virgin Mary, Sekhmet with Saint Michael, Freyja with witchcraft, and the living cat on your lap with the dead lamb of God on the altar.
The cat-holic reading is not etymology. It is pattern recognition. The organisation that claimed universality did so by specifically and systematically eliminating the feline thread from every tradition it absorbed. It is the church that ate the cat. The cat-swallower. The institution that consumed the cat's role and repackaged it as doctrine, hierarchy, and control. Cat-holic not because the word means cat โ but because the institution defines itself in opposition to everything the cat represents.
You don't have to accept the folk etymology to see the pattern. The Church consumed the cat. Swallowed the feminine, the magical, the independent, the healer. Declared itself universal. And then spent five centuries burning the evidence.
2005 โ Present
In the 21st century, the most viewed, shared, and beloved content on the internet โ the greatest information network in human history โ is cats. Cat videos. Cat memes. Cat pictures. Cats falling off tables. Cats sitting in boxes. Cats staring into the void. An entire civilisation's nervous system, vibrating at cat frequency.
This is usually treated as cute. As trivial. As proof that the internet is silly.
In the Star Players framework, it is something else entirely. The last time a global information network was saturated with feline content was Egypt. The civilisation that lasted three thousand years. The civilisation that said: the cat carries divine energy. Protect it above all things. Even above yourself.
The cats are coming back. Not through temples or theology or priesthoods. Through the one medium that โ like the sky map, like the songlines, like the oral tradition โ belongs to everyone and cannot be controlled by any single institution.
The Nommo gave the knowledge away for free. The internet gives the cats away for free. Nobody charges admission. Nobody requires a priest to interpret. The cat sits on your screen and you feel better. That's the teaching. That's all it ever was.

Lyra: feline seeder species, first intelligent beings in this universe, genetic creators of domestic cats. Freyja: Rebel Goddess of the Norse, chariot pulled by cats, receiver of the warrior dead, keeper of sex and magic and fertility and sovereignty โ everything the priests would call witchcraft. The Church: killed the cats, burned the women, called itself universal, and then the rats came.
And now: the cats are back. On every screen. In every home. Asking nothing. Teaching nothing. Just sitting there. Being cats. Carrying whatever they carry. Seeing whatever they see in the dark.

The cat does not need your worship. It does not need your temple. It does not need your theology. It needs you to leave it alone, feed it occasionally, and let it do what it does โ which is sit at the threshold between the seen and the unseen and keep watch.
That is the whole teaching. The cat has always known it.
